  • 2013 Fusion Campaign
When concepting a campaign that rang true to the new 2013 Ford Fusion, we couldn’t help but notice the overwhelmingly positive conversations around the car. We not only decided to let our fans be the voice for the campaign, we wanted to go a step further and thank them in surprising ways for their appreciation of the vehicle.
Through this massive online campaign, we’ve created various ways to show our appreciation for the people who have been saying really great things about the Fusion. We’ve put on an autoshow for a fan who simply couldn’t wait to test drive it, one upped their day, washed their new Fusion and had comedian/ musician Reggie Watts remix their comments. We’ve also let them have lunch with the Fusion engineers and designers they are praising. And even let them have a direct conversation with our fans about the car on Facebook by making them our Facebook King or Queen for the day.

  • 2013 Mustang Campaign
2013 was the first year I worked on Mustang Customizer and we wanted to up the ante by creating a full 360 campaign that spanned from the online experience, to mobile and tablet, out of home on LED billboards, interactive media walls and a broadcast spot.

We made the site experience more robust by adding points to building, battling, sharing and even allowed them to wager those points in challenges against their Facebook friends.. More points equaled more entries at a chance to win the exact car you build on the site. We then selected four winners over the course of a four month contest period and then surprised them with the dream Mustang they created on the website and had it delivered by Mustang Drift Champion, Vaughn Gittan Jr.

We didn't just stop there, we took the Customizer experience, everywhere. We created large-scale interactive media boards in five major airports and high-traffic transit stations in Chicago and New York. We even let celebs get in on the fun at the Maxim Oscar party. We also gave people a bit of celebrity by putting the custom Mustangs they created on the site on CBS LED billboards in their hometowns across the country.

We even created a tv spot working with Iron Man director, Jon Favreau that celebrated the inner Mustang in all of us.

  • 2013 Mustang Commercial
Mustang is the most customizable vehicle in the industry. The possibilities are endless allowing people to create their dream Mustang. We wanted to create a commercial that brought that very concept to life.

I worked on the national campaign to promote the 2013 Mustang and the first initiative to go live for the campaign is the broadcast spot we worked on. To create the spot, we worked with director Jon Favreau from Motion Theory, DP Matthew Libatique, and CG company The Mill. This spot.

  • Doug, Social Media Campaign
With an over-abundance of spokesmen on the ad scene lately, how do you get the message out about an amazing car people have outdated preconceptions of? You hire a puppet to do the job.

This is a multi-phased social media campaign for the All-New 2012 Ford Focus. Working with improv actors Paul F. Tompkins and John Ross Bowie, RSA, The Character Shop as well as directors/writers whose work includes The Office, The Simpsons, Parks and Rec as well as the film Bridesmaids - our team created a series of 30+ videos that live exclusively on Youtube. The campaign was further supported through a highly interactive Facebook and Twitter campaign engaging real people in real time. It also encompassed various integrations with the Travelocity roaming gnome as well as Digg-Nation.

My co-workers and I spent six days camping in the desert with carni folk to build this interactive geodesic dome in 2006 for Coachella. The premise was based on the seasons, and our group worked on the Spring themed dome. We used real sod to create lounge chairs to relax while you could watch people "play the gnomes". Waving your hand in front of a gnome would trigger a sound, each gnome having a different sound - allowing you to mix a song.
